OBJECTIVES: The participant will have acquired sufficient knowledge about the Law and regulations pertaining to the transportation of dangerous goods so as to plan and conduct training sessions. This training will help you update or rectify current workers as well as supply basic training for new employees. Moreover, he will have acquired communication skills to transmit efficiently the course content.
DURATION: 3 days (2 days basic TDG by Road Course at the centre combined with a personalized 1 day Train the Trainer course).
CONTENTS: Purpose of the TDG Act and Regulations. Training requirements. Familiarization with the Act and Regulations. Provincial decree (Quebec) on TDG by road. Responsibilities of employers, shippers, carriers, and handlers. Compliance and penalties. Interpretation (definitions). Application / Exemptions. 9 classes of dangerous goods and their packing groups. Table of precedence of dangerous goods. Choosing a shipping description, alphabetical and numerical lists. Safety standards for packaging : UN, safe and TC/DOT. Marking and labelling requirements of packages and overpacks. Labelling and placarding requirements for road transportation. Documentation requirements. Dangerous occurrence reporting.
