An explosion causing death on Nun’s Island

A work-related accident occurred Thursday June 30th on Nun’s Island on Gaspé Street. Three men were doing renovations on the 7th floor of an apartment building when an explosion occurred after one of the men lit a cigarette. It provoked the detonation and ignited highly flammable vapors from a floor finish container.

Three men were sent to hospital, one in his forties, and two in their twenties. One of the men in his twenties had injuries to 90% of his body and he succumbed to his injuries on the afternoon of July 2nd.
