NEW PROTECTIVE DIRECTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY

The Transport Minister has released a new protective direction that takes effect April 28th 2016. This protection directive follows the rail incident that occurred in Lac Megatic. The protective direction 36 requires Canadian Class I Carriers that carry dangerous goods to provide information to the Emergency Planning Official in charge of emergency measures. Including:

  1. Aggregate information on the Nature and volume of Dangerous Goods.
  2. The number of Unit Trains loaded with Dangerous Goods operated by the Canadian Class I Carrier.
  3. The percentage of railway cars operated by the Canadian Class I Rail Carrier.
